Luke 15

  1. Consider these 3 parables together. The parables of the lost sheet and lost coin express God's love for every single person. The parable of the lost son shows that the older brother only cared about himself not the lost brother. Does this chapter show us the difference of how God sees humanity and how we see humanity?

  2. When we look at these three parables together, the overriding theme seems to be that of God's tremendous love and grace for us - no matter what we have done! What reassurance that the father of the prodigal son gives to us in exemplifying God's love for us! Compared to how we (and the brother) see humanity is probably that life isn't always fair. When I look at life more honestly and openly, I have to think, "Life really isn't fair. Why am I so blessed with food to eat, clothes to wear and a warm home in which to live? With all these and other blessings, what should I be doing for others to show God's love?"
