Matthew 4:12-17

This passage contains Jesus' basic message. "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand". This is a message that still rings true today. It is a call for us to change our lives in response to the presence of God.

Change is not easy. Even when we know that the change would be good for us we struggle to make simple changes. That is why we needed a savior. To save us from ourselves.

  1. I guess many of us really do want to change - as we might see in our yearly resolutions (I'm speaking for myself!). However, it is certainly easier said than done. I like the Amplified Bible's expansion on this passage: Repent (change your mind for the better, heartily amend your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins),..

  2. I completely agree with Pat about wanting to change-I do! I'm in the midst of a change right now, and it is a hard, slow process. Back to yesterday's passage about temptation-I am constantly tempted to revert back, to give up. Knowing God is with me, always, makes it easier when the temptation of old ways and behaviors creep up-He gives me the strength I need.
