Luke 8:29-39

What has always bothered me about this story is the people of the region of Gerasenes asking Jesus to leave after he had cast out the demon. This seems to imply that they were more upset about the loss of the herd of pigs than they were about the transformation of "Legion". Every time I read this story I wonder how often I have valued material wealth over human beings.

  1. As I read this story, the part that spoke to me was Jesus' command to Legion to go and tell others about all that God had done for him. It makes me wonder why I am sometimes reluctant to do this - let others know what wonderful things God has done in my life??? This also reminds me about part in "The Hole in the Gospel" that reminds us of the direction God gives us to "make disciples of all nations" not only through what we say but even more by what we do.
