Hebrews 9

Under the old covenant, the blood of animals was offered as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins. Under the new covenant, which began at Jesus' death, the blood of animals is no longer required. Jesus' blood at his death became the sacrifice for our sins. It was the final sacrifice. His death was a one time event that took care of our sins forever.

  1. I am so thankful to be living today at a time when we are assured that the blood of Jesus takes away our sins. I had never noticed this phrase about the blood of animals being offered as a sacrifice for sins: "...the gifts and sacrifices being offered were not able to clear the conscience of the worshiper." I thank God for His most magnificent grace to truly forgive - when I confess my sins to Him!
