The challenge is to read scripture for 10 minutes and pray for 10 minutes every day. These daily scripture readings are connected to the sermon from the previous Sunday at First United Methodist Church of Grapevine.
We have many concerns and problems in life. We worry about much. Jesus teaches us to keep our lives and thoughts centered on his kingdom. If we do this everything else will fall into place. How do we do this? Maybe a start would be that every time we begin to worry we use the worry as a call to prayer. In the prayer we lay the concern before God, remembering that it is God that is in charge the world, not us.
ReplyDeleteThis part of the Sermon on the Mount has always had special meaning for me. I have this lifelong "habit" of worry and have always been comforted by this particular passage. I especially appreciate Ken's comment about using worry as a call to prayer! That is now my new goal in life!
