Sept. 17 - Matthew 26:31-75
This is a bad night for the disciples. Many times you could ask "what where they thinking?"
Peter says he will never betray him
They fall asleep instead of praying
Judas with the crowd that comes to arrest him
One of his disciples draws a sword and attacks a person
All the disciples desert him
Peter denies him three times.
Jesus response, he dies for them. Jesus response was dependent upon what he was thinking, not what the disciples were thinking. Fortunately, it still is.

Jesus does not change his life or purpose dependent upon the disciples acts. Like He says, at any moment He could call upon angels for protection, and never suffer any harm. He does not choose this however. He knows that He was sent to fulfill the scriptures and propecies of the New Testament, and that ultimately ends in His death. How different would our world be today had Jesus responded to the disciples actions? Or from my perspective-how different would my life be if Jesus' responded to my sinful thoughts and actions. In scripture, it says many times that there is nothing we can do to earn God's will, not good works or deeds. His will is His gift to us. I feel blessed to have such a gift that I know I am not always deserving of.
