Matthew 21:23-46

This section includes some of the most direct teaching of Jesus. He is on the way to the cross and there is little time. Jesus is challenging the religious leaders with the lack of results in their lives. He tells them the Kingdom of God will be taken away from them and given to others who will produce fruit. What would Jesus say about the fruit of your life?

  1. I think Jesus would challenge me to do more. I think He would challenge anyone to do more. I don't think that by challenging me He is not pleased, but I think He could see my full potential. It's human nature to underestimate ourselves and to think that we can't do anything else. When we feel like we can't do anything else, I think it's important to give things to God, to let Him take control of our life. When we give Him control, I think we are able to do more-to do more for Him, for His Kingdom.

  2. It is quite unnerving to think about what "fruit" I produce vs. what fruit I COULD produce. I've found over the years in various Bible study groups that this is a a very common thread/need for people to be searching for God's will for our lives. Many of us really DO have the desire to "produce His fruit." I still remember the comment by our dear friend Worthy, who repeatedly said during the last months of her life, "I keep wondering what God wants me to do in this part of my life." I praise God for the spiritual wisdom of this most devout Christian who showed us that no matter what is happening in our lives, we can still bear "fruit" for others as we all strive to do God's will.
